How much does it cost to install an EV charger at home?
A 7kW tethered or untethered home charger installed in Greater Manchester costs £700 to £1,150 including VAT in 2026, depending on the unit you choose and the cable run from your fuse board. Standard installs, with the charger within 10 metres of the board on the same wall as the meter, sit at the lower end. We quote one written figure and handle the DNO notification.

For most people an Ohme or Hypervolt on an EV tariff is the best value. If you have or plan solar, a Zappi diverts your excess to the car. If you want the neatest look, an Easee or Andersen. A charger must be on your property and the cable must not cross a public pavement. If you park on the street, some councils now allow a cable channel across the pavement with permission; ask us what applies on your road.
No, for a wall-mounted charger on a house. Listed buildings and flats may need permission from the freeholder or council.
