What to do right now
If there are flames, smoke or anyone is hurt, ring 999 first. Otherwise, these three things cover most of what we get called to.
Switch off at the mains, leave the circuit off and call us. Do not open the board, do not pull the socket off the wall, and do not use the circuit again until it has been tested.
Touch nothing. Not the switch, not the appliance, not the board if water is anywhere near it. Keep everyone away from it and call us from another room.
Check whether the neighbours have lights. If the street is dark it is a network fault and the distribution operator handles it. If it is just you, it is your installation and we can help.
What we get called to
An electrician answers, not a call centre. Most callouts reached inside the hour.
Common questions
Most callouts inside Greater Manchester are reached within the hour, day or night. When you ring we tell you a realistic arrival time before we set off rather than an optimistic one. Outlying parts of Cheshire East can take a little longer and we will say so on the phone.
Emergency work is charged at a callout rate that is quoted to you on the phone before anyone leaves. You will know the rate and what it covers before you agree to the visit. If the fault turns out to be a network problem rather than your installation, we tell you and you are not charged for a repair you do not need.
Yes. The phone is answered by an electrician, not an answering service, and the person you speak to is the person coming out or the one dispatching them. Nights, weekends and bank holidays included.
If there are flames, smoke filling a room, or anyone is hurt or unconscious, ring 999 first. Every time. If there is a burning smell, sparking, scorching or a shock but no fire, switch off at the mains and ring us. When in doubt, 999 first and us second.
Two brands, one team
Mister Electrics handles planned work: rewires, fuse boards, EICRs, EV chargers and commercial fit-outs. Emergencies are delivered by The Emergency Electricians, our emergency arm.
Same brothers, same vans, same NAPIT registration, same number. The only difference is the hour you ring and the rate that applies. Whoever arrives makes it safe first, then tells you what a permanent fix looks like and what it costs, in daylight, before you commit to anything.
Once the emergency is dealt with, the follow-up work comes back to us: fault finding and repairs, fuse board upgrades or a full rewire if the installation has had its day.
